A Women’s Ministry in the Heart of Thomasville
You have a good life—
You have a home and transportation,
You have food to eat,
Your bills are paid,
Your family is relatively healthy,
You love your husband and he loves you,
You’re happy.
You really don’t have anything to complain about, but you find yourself longing for it to be better.
You feel content; yet at the same time, maybe you feel confused about this sense of longing that you keep trying to ignore or dismiss… because you know, deep down, that you truly are blessed.
I want to challenge you to confront this longing by examining all areas of your life, and specifically your friendships. Maybe what you are missing is something God wants you to have in your life—which is friendships with His other beloved daughters.
Let’s take a moment to read what God says about the value and importance of friendships. But first, let’s go over some scriptures where God warns us about the people we associate with.
Proverbs 18:24 says, “One who has unreliable friends soon come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” And Proverbs 22:24-25 says, “Do not make friends with a hot-tempered person, do not associate with one easily angered, or you may learn their ways and get yourself ensnared.” 1 Corinthians 15:33 sums it up perfectly by telling us, “Do not be misled: bad company corrupts good character.”
Now, let’s look at some scriptures that guides us in how we should treat a friend.
1 Peter 4:8-10 tells us, “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11 says, “Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.” Hebrews 10:24-25 is similar and it goes a little further by saying, “Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near.”
Finally, I want to share the one Bible verse that inspired me to pursue this women’s ministry with you. It is Proverbs 27:9, “A sweet friendship refreshes the soul.”
One Saturday each season, we will share afternoon tea in the fellowship hall at the church.
If necessary, additional times can be added to ensure that everyone interested can attend.
One-on-one tea times can be requested by anyone needing encouragement between our seasonal dates. I’m just a phone call away!
I invite you to come alongside of me to love, support, encourage, and uplift one another. You may be asking yourself, “what is the significance of sharing tea together?”
Tea is multicultural and it represents hospitality, respect, and friendship. Which are core qualities I want this ministry to reflect.
Tea allows us time to slow down, rest, and pause… something we don’t do often enough. It offers comfort, and soothes the soul. It’s also a full-body experience… engaging all 5 of our senses—sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch.
Drinking tea will bring us together, and provide us with opportunities to connect and get to know each other better. It’ll serve as a facilitator of meaningful conversations—bonding us together by sharing stories and creating new memories.
